Crimp Sleeves- Made In The USA

Crimp Sleeves
The Tiny Piece That Holds It All Together

Welcome back to our Made in the USA series (insert roaring audience applause here)! In this post we will be discussing the classic Crimp Sleeve. Crimp sleeves are a pivotal part of building a wire fence. They can give your wire strength and durability. The quality of the crimp sleeve is imperative to the life and longevity of the fence you are building. Kencove carries mostly KIWI Crimp sleeves, which have been loved by contractors and farmers alike since the 1970’s.

The Right Crimp Sleeve for The Right Wire

Crimp sleeves come in all sizes and are made to fit exactly what you are using to build your fence. Whether it be barbed wire, woven wire, or high tensile, there is a crimp sleeve for you. We break down what Kencove has to offer for each wire below.

High Tensile

The Sleeves

When 12.5 gauge wires are spliced together, three C23 gritted crimp sleeves are used to maintain the full strength of the wire. At end posts and in-line tightener ratchets, two C23 sleeves are normally used. When crimping the sleeve, put it into the tool slot marked 2-3 and compress it into a cylindrical shape. Do not split the sleeve into an 8 shape. Made in USA.

The Tools
TEP is a handy tool is perfect for building high-tensile wire fences. It crimps all 12½ gauge sleeves, cuts steel wire, strips coated wire, and pulls staples with ease. The EzePull 4-in-1 Fence Tool is half the weight of most 4-slot tools.

Smooth Wire

The Sleeves

The C2LAL aluminum sleeves are about 20 percent longer and require a few extra compression to achieve the proper holding strength. For use with 12.5 gauge smooth wire.

The C45AL aluminum crimp sleeve works well with 9 gauge smooth wire or 15.5 gauge barbed wire.

The C34 gritted crimp sleeve can be used for 10.5 gauge smooth wire or 14 – 15.5 gauge high-tensile barbed wire.

The C45 sleeve works well with 8 gauge smooth wire or 12.5 gauge barbed wire.

The Tools

The Nicopress 2-Slot Crimp Tool has a compact design for crimping C23, C2L, C2LAL, and C45 sleeves. Ideal for use with 10, 11, or 12½ gauge wire. This tool is small enough to fit in your pocket, but the shorter handles require a bit more force to crimp.

The original Nicopress 4-Slot Crimp Tool crimps the full range of Kencove crimp sleeves.

Woven Wire

The Sleeves
The gritted C2L sleeve is 70% longer than the C23 and requires at least two side by side crimps to achieve full strength. It can be used in place of the C23 sleeve in many applications. The C2L works especially well on Solidlock, Tightlock and other woven wire style fences because these fences are normally tightened to lower tensions. Use of the C2L in these applications saves money because you need only one sleeve per line splice versus two of the C23 size.

Barbed Wire

The Sleeves

The C45B Aluminum crimp sleeves are ideal for joining 12.5 gauge barbed wire.

The C45AL aluminum crimp sleeve works well with 9 gauge smooth wire or 15.5 gauge barbed wire. Keep dry prior to using for best results.
